Building a better Pinellas since 1990

The Penny for Pinellas is a voter-approved 1% sales tax that pays for our community’s long-term needs.

Voters overwhelmingly renewed the Penny for a fourth time in 2017, continuing support for more than $5 billion in projects across Pinellas County and 24 cities through 2029.

  • 1/3 paid for by visitors & tourists.
  • 100% stays local in Pinellas.
  • Each city decides projects to fund in their community.
  • Not collected on groceries or medications.
  • Funds long-term projects like roads, bridges, parks, fire stations and more without raising property taxes.
