Safety Harbor Waterfront Park
Location: 105 Veterans Memorial Lane, Safety Harbor
Project Type: Parks & Preserves
Irrigation and Sod Improvements
Waterfront Park has been a premier event venue in the Tampa Bay area since its creation but has always lacked irrigation and a premium natural surface. Through the Penny for Pinellas fund, the City of Safety Harbor was able to add irrigation and a premium turf grass (Seashore paspalum variety Platinum TE) in July of 2024.
Park Additions
Waterfront Park consists of 13 Acres of Wetlands and Uplands and includes the creation of a 2-acre preservation area of wetlands and Florida native plantings, installation of 1,500 linear feet of elevated boardwalk that traverses throughout the 2-acre preservation area and crosses Mullet Creek, and the installation of walkable pathways throughout the park, recreation areas within the upland area of the park, and installation of a shade sail covered seating area. Waterfront Park provides connectivity between the north and south sections of the park. The City of Safety Harbor’s Waterfront Park was awarded the American Public Works Association, Florida West Coast Branch, Project of the Year Award for Environmental, and the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council 27th Annual Future of the Region Award for Natural Environment.
